HURT Trail Redux and Plans for 2015

This past week I felt ready to resume structured training after taking two weeks off after the HURT 100 to run/hike. I ended up logging 62 miles with 9,000ft of vertical with a 17 miler followed by a 13 miler over the weekend. Torn between taking it easy and taking advantage of the terrain in our last week in Hawaii I chose the latter. I took one last chance to run 13 miles on the HURT trails. I ran slow and relaxed, stopping to take pictures and reflect on my time out here. Below are some parting shots of some of my favorite sections of the course.

Looking ahead I have several goals for the remainder of the year. It is a mix of revisiting some courses from my past, specifically the Hell’s Hills 50 miler where I have only raced the 50K and hopefully back to the Vermont 50 Miler where I first ran an ultra.

The rest of the year is a mixed bag. When your “A” goal for the year falls the second week of January it can be difficult planning out the rest of the year. My goal is to continue to improve as a runner while being able to experience new places through running. The following are some races that are on my radar for the rest of the year:

April 4, 2015 Hell’s Hills 50 Miler

May 17, 2015 Sugarloaf Marathon

May 31, 2015 Cayuga Trail 50 Miler

June 20, 2015 Mt Washington Road Race

June 28, 2015 Whiteface Sky Marathon

July 24, 25 2015 24 Hours around the Lake

September 27, 2015 Vermont 50 Miler
